Private sector organizations or individuals cannot procure or use jammers in India, according to an advisory issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Further, the DoT Notice states that it is illegal to advertise, sell, distribute, import or trade signal jamming devices in India except as permitted by the guidelines issued. by the government, a press release from the Ministry of Communications. said Monday (July 4).
Under government policy on jammers, devices may be bought or used only by Ministries/Departments of Government of India, State Governments/Union Territory Administration (Defence Forces, Central Security Organizations, Police Services and Prison Authorities) and Statutory Bodies conduct of government examinations. of India/State Governments/Union Territories Administrations.
In its advisory released last week to the general public on the proper use of wireless jammers, boosters, or repeaters, the DoT said that using a cellular signal jammer, GPS blocker, or Any other signal jamming device is generally illegal unless specifically authorized by Government of India.
With respect to the signal booster or repeater, it has been declared illegal to possess, sell and/or use a mobile signal repeater or booster by any person or entity other than the providers licensed telecommunications services.
Earlier on January 21 this year, the DoT issued a notice warning all e-commerce companies to sell or facilitate the sale of wireless jammers on their online platforms.
